Our Founders

  • Michael Foss

Michael and Elizabeth Foss are parents to nine children, all of whom have been educated at home. They dote on six grandchildren. Elizabeth is the author of many books including Real Learning: Education in the Heart of the Home, a beloved guide for countless families pursuing a living books education. A new edition serves a second generation of families. Elizabeth mentors parents as primary educators through her regular columns on family life and her life coaching ministry. Mike is a five-time, Emmy Award winning producer/director/media executive who retired from ESPN in 2023. He has directed televised Masses for EWTN from the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC, and currently serves as an international media consultant in broadcasting, content creation, and digital strategy.

  • Peter Schwartz

Peter and his wife, Laurie, are the parents of five adult daughters, with one grandchild and a hope for many more. Peter and Laurie educated their children in public schools, in Catholic schools, and through homeschooling, and are inspired to provide yet another choice for parents who desire a joyful classical education rooted in the treasures of Catholicism. Peter recently retired from a long career as an attorney and senior executive at Travelers. He is President of the Hartford Chapter of Legatus, and serves on the Boards of Crossroads for Christ and the Family Institute of Connecticut, and on the Finance Council of St. Francis of  Assisi Church.

  • Charlie Mihaliak

Charlie and his wife, Dee-dee, are parents of five grown children with four grandchildren and more on the way. They chose a Catholic, classical-based homeschool approach for education and are strong advocates for providing parents with authentically Catholic, classically-based education options.  Charlie is a principal at Ernst and Young, and on the Board of Connecticut Insurance and Financial Services.  Dee-dee founded Adoro Te, a large Catholic homeschool community based in central Connecticut.  She also founded and operates The Domestic Monastery, a Catholic/Christian gift and bookstore.
